'Oda' chair with footstool - Nanna Ditzel
description
An early version of the 'Oda' chair, with footstool. This lounge chair was designed by Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel in 1953, and was named after the Japanese design professor Oda Noritsugu as a tribute to his extensive research on Danish design. Unofficially, the armchair has been called The Nursing Chair because of its spaciousness and comfortable support.
This chair was produced by Poul Kolds Savværk in Kertminde, Denmark. It still has the original fabric from the 1950s, with a playful pattern typical for the era. The 2 additional images show examples of the type of fabric used to advertise when the Oda chair was launched. Please note, the foam is worn out, which is normal for its age. However, the comfort is still great. Reupholstering upon request.
