RARE LOUNGE CHAIR - Kjell Richardsen

description
Easy chair 'Scandia' designed in 1960 by Richardsen Kjell for Tynes Møbelfabrikk, Norway. A rare lounge chair with a low back and this unusual cantilever frame. Only a few are known in this version. Made of moulded laminated rosewood slats with a chromed steel base. The chair is in excellent condition and retains in its original condition. Over the years a subtle patina and light wear has developed.Note: this model has been produced during two years, in 1962 ,the factory was hit by a major fire. Unfortunately valuable drawings disappeared and machinery was destroyed. Also most of the key workers left the company. Nevertheless the owner carried on the business until it went bankrupt in the 80ties.
The National Museum of Norway has attributed the chair also to Hans Brattrud . Most likely due to the obvious similarities with several of his pre-1960 designs.
