description
A stunning pair of authentic "Scissors" chairs designed by Pierre Jeanneret in 1948 and manufactured by Knoll International. The frames are in maple and in original condition. All labels are still present and visible on both chairs. The straps and the cushions are perfectly restored with the best care. The fabric we used for this project is from Pierre Frey, France. These chairs have become highly collectable and are getting rare.Arnold-André-Pierre Jeanneret-Gris was born in Geneva. He grew up in the typical Jura landscape that influenced his early childhood and his Geneva Calvinism roots. He attended the School of Fine Arts (Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Geneva). As a young student, he was a brilliant painter, artist and architect, greatly influenced by Charles-Édouard Jeanneret (Le Corbusier), his cousin and mentor. From 1927 to 1937 they worked together with Charlotte Perriand at the Le Corbusier-Pierre Jeanneret studio.
