This sculptural tripod chair, ‘SE42’, was designed by one of Germany's most prominent post-war architect and industrial designer Egon Eiermann for Wilde + Spieth in 1949. The three-legged chair is made of moulded ash plywood and has rubber shock mounts in between the seat, backrest and base. The designs by Egon Eiermann is characterised by simplicity, immediate recognisability of function and the strictest geometry. The chair has been restored and shows light wear consistent with age and use.
