Dornstab Floor Lamp - Model 2076 - J.T. Kalmar & A. Pöll

description
J.T. Kalmar, who had been taught in the Arts & Crafts movement by architect Josef Hoffmann, was a strong advocate for the integration of form and function in his design. This style didn’t have exaggerated ornaments but was heading towards a more innovative approach.
Floor lamp ‘Dornstab’ is a perfect example, designed in 1947. The shade can be adjusted up to 3 different positions, according to the reader’s preference. While the design is not overly decorative, it can be seen as elegant and stands as an example of true craftmanship.
The base is in its original state, made of teak and brass and has acquired a nice patina through the years. The lamp shade has been restored.
