set of 4 - Model S64 - Thonet - Marcel Breuer

description
A set of four cantilever chairs, model S64, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1920s, Germany. The chairs are also known as the 'Cesca' chair, named after his daughter Francesca. This set of chairs dates from the 1980s, produced by Thonet. The previous owner had purchased a set of four in 1982 and a set of two in 1989 (one chair was unfortunately lost). In order to create a set of four, a pair from 1982 and 1989 was selected. It should be noted that there is one other chair in stock, should a set of five be required. The frames are in chrome-plated tubular steel, with curved wooden frames and armrests made of solid beech wood. The wicker seats with backrests have been redone by a professional, ensuring longevity.Over the years, the chairs have developed patina and signs of use. Nonetheless, the chairs' overall condition is very good. This model is widely regarded as being one of the most significant modernist classics and are a great example of Bauhaus design.
