Designed in 1927 by Eileen Gray for ClassiCon (formerly known as "the Vereinigte Werkstätten").
Its name is taken from E 1027, the coastal residence Gray created for herself and architect Jean Badovici. The alphanumeric title encodes their initials: “E” for Eileen, “10” representing the letter J, “2” for B (Badovici), and “7” for G (Gray).
The height-adjustable frame is made of chrome-plated tubular steel. The tabletop is made of glass.
The table is in very good condition, showing only minor traces of use.
