Dornstab Floor Lamp - Model 2076

J.T. Kalmar, who had been taught in the Arts & Crafts movement by architect Josef Hoffmann, was a strong advocate for the integration of form and function in his design. This style didn’t have exaggerated ornaments but was heading towards a more innovative approach.
Floor lamp ‘Dornstab’ is a perfect example, designed in 1947. The shade can be adjusted up to 3 different positions, according to the reader’s preference. While the design is not overly decorative, it can be seen as elegant and stands as an example of true craftmanship.
​​​​​​​The base is in its original state, made of teak and brass and has acquired a nice patina through the years. The lamp shade has been restored.
