description

A 'Hillestak' dining table designed by Robin Day in the 1950's for Hille, in the UK. The table features compass legs in beech wood with a laminated table top in plywood. Proposed as low-cost furniture and inspired by the plywood work of Aalto and Eames, Robin Day’s Hillestak design proved to be one of Hille’s early successes. The table can also be used as a desk. The heavy traces of wear show that it has served for many years, nonetheless it can serve for many more years to come. The laminate is damaged on one corner, as shown in the pictures.
